RAPROS (Beraprost) - Vasodilator Support for CKD

Improves renal blood flow and glomerular filtration

Reduces proteinuria

May help stabilise or slightly lower CREA and BUN in certain cases

Anti-platelet and vasodilatory effects help prevent micro-thrombi in damaged kidneys

Published veterinary studies (mainly Japan and Europe) show improved survival time and quality of life when used as part of CKD management

Given once or twice daily with or without food. Starting with a lower dose and gradual increase minimises side effects.

Always combine with standard CKD management (low-phosphorus diet, phosphate binders, fluids, blood-pressure control).

0.03-0.12 mg/kg once daily (most common range 0.05-0.08 mg/kg PO q24h).

Typical dose for a 4 kg cat: 0.2-0.4 mg total per day (often compounded into 0.1 mg or 0.2 mg capsules/tablets).

Dosage must be tailored by your veterinarian based on blood work, blood pressure, and clinical response.

Mild gastrointestinal upset (soft stool, vomiting, reduced appetite) - usually transient

Facial flushing or warmth (rare)

Hypotension if overdosed (lethargy, weakness) Most side effects are dose-dependent and resolve with temporary dose reduction.
